Why Join TRG?
The Club offers many benefits to its members including:
Safety - Any water sport is potentially dangerous, especially white water boating. TRG stresses safety on its trips. TRG'ers take many steps in making their trips as safe as possible by using the proper gear and looking out for one another.
Experience - Club members' experience levels range from novice to class IV-V. Some members are American Canoe Association (ACA) certified instructors. It's reassuring having experienced people on a river run. They can show you the lines to take and help as you develop your skills.
Equipment - Over the years, TRG has gathered camping and paddling equipment that club members can use. If you're just starting out, advce from club members is a great way to learn about boating equipment. Some of the members have been boating for many years. They know what works and it's a great way to try out other people's equipment before buying your own. A discount on equipment is offered to club members by some outfitters.
Website - The club website - www.toledorivergang.homestead.com keeps us informed about club events and trips and other services as well. We also have a club roster so you can get in contact with other members when you want to go boating. The Paddle Currents page on the website is password protected and contains the club roster, trip reports and other club related information for members only.
Trips and Events - Several river trips are planned a year plus other outings such as ski trips, film festivals, biking, moonlight paddles. Members also receive a great deal on pool sessions in the winter to keep up on skills.
Socializing - TRG is a great group of people just to hang out with. Members come together once a month at various local restaurants to catch up and plan the next boating advenure.
Great! How Do I Join?
Annual dues are a mere $10 per family. If you join after July, you are paid up through the year and the following year. We require that you fill out a liability waiver (see link at left) before participating in any club activity. If you are under 18 years of age, we require your parent or guardian to be present at boating activities (the parent doesn't need to be on the river, but close at hand in case of an emergency - but hey, why not take up the sport as well and join in on the fun).
To join, send a check payable to Toledo River Gang and include your name ( and your significant other's name and any children), your phone number (so we know where to reach you when we go out), your mailing address and your e-mail address (so we can send you the newsletter), and the signed liability release form to our club treasurer:
